KNOB TAILED GECKO
Nephrurus levis occidentalis
Description:
Medium sized Nephrurus with moderately long tail. Ground colour
from pale reddish brown to rich yellowish brown, patterned
with narrow transverse cream to pale grey lines. Differs from
Nephrurus levis levis in possessing much broader and more
depressed tail. SVL 90mm.

Distribution:
Occurs on midwest coast and hinterland of Western Australia
from about Karratha south to Geraldton.
Habitat:
Found in a wide range of arid and semi-arid habitats, from
open woodland and arid scrubs to spinifex-covered desert sandplains
and dunefields. A nocturnal terrestrial lizard which apparently
lives during the day in burrows, either excavated by itself
or those dug by other lizards or small mammals. Forages at
night in open areas.
